Tasting note

A dry rosé from the pink-skinned Chkhaveri grape — Georgia's only indigenous pink variety, grown almost only in Adjara and neighbouring Guria. Pale in colour, quiet in alcohol, with the nose of hibiscus, wild strawberry, and pomegranate seed. The qvevri gives it a gentle earthbound finish the steel tank could never reach. No chemical additives.

Origin

Chkhaveri is the grape of the Adjaran coast, where we farm our Buknari vines, 27 metres above the Black Sea. Traditionally this was the wedding wine of our region. A drink poured into small glasses and never hurried.

Food pairing

Pkhali in all its forms. Cold meats at the end of summer. Grilled prawn from the Black Sea. A late June supra before the table grows heavy.

Made and bottled in the Khimshiashvili family cellar.
